I chose supernova for my final project, because supernova has a colorful and impressive effect.
While making 2d composition, I focused on explosion of star. I chose colors according to supernova pictures.
Firstly we painted it with acrylic.
We thought that cardboards would be better for craftsmanship, thus we used cardboards.

Firstly we organized relief with using 3 cm cubes for the blank space. We thought these 3 cm cubes don’t show our composition. Thus, we changed their measure into 0.5 cm.
Sketching was a little bit difficult, because I couldn’t imagine how they will be when I did it with stripes. However, I managed to sketch a composition in the end.
I used the stripes above that belonged to my classmate. It really helped me to understand how stripes work. I tried everything that I imagined.
I used circles as hills and holes. They made a contrast and good composition.

Real life examples which I observed for the relief from stripes.…
We made lots of sketches about direction and contrast. We couldn’t find a good composition, but we made lots of discussion to find the best one.
We were at studio for all day long. Firstly, we made lots sketches. It was the longest process of the day.
We showed each other sketches we made, after lots of discussions we combined our ideas. And we like the idea of picture above. Squares and circles were the geometric shapes we used. We sketched two different final sketch to decide on the colors. Should the square or the circle be yellow?
We made an example of the real assignment while using green geometric shapes. It helped lot to see the real one before starting it. This process was fun because we like the our composition lot.
We cut lots of squares, because their numbers weren’t decided on. I am still keeping the squares that we didn’t use.
Firstly, we put our shapes to see how they will look on paper. It was really helpful to do that before sticking them. We used copy paper to copy our curves on the previous paper. And finally we sticked our geometric shapes carefully. The little squares were the most diffucult process of it.
We put our assignment on the wall. Sena Çoban had the idea of using the biggest circle to write our names, and to decorate it with squares. It was a really cute idea. We were satisfied with our assignment at the end of the day. I am thankful to all my teammates.…
Sketching with color pens helped me to see colors that make transparency. Triangles were the biggest part of my sketches.
I like the colors which I used, but I am not satisfied with my composition.
This day was really tiring. My table was looking really messy at the end of the day.
While sketching I used green pens to see my composition better, because I decided on using green colors. Ordering squares from darker to lighter was showing hierarchy. Moreover, I used sizes to show hierarchy clearly; four different sizes from the biggest one the smallest.
My assignment was as same as I planned, but it took lots of time to make such squares.
I think chess pieces are a good example to see hierarchy: 8 pawns, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops, a queen and the most important one – the king.…
I’ve tried to visualize the painting in my sketches before the final painting.
Painting it correctly took a lot of time because the frame was small and I had to find the right colors. I had so much fun during this project.
While making this homework, I remembered the paintings of Picasso. This is one of my favourite which is seen lots of geometric shapes.…
